The Payoff
"And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus."I Tim. 1:14
My daughter just made a CD. Actually, it is her third CD of gospel music. From the age of twelve, she has been putting Scripture to song, first in combination with classical music, and now by itself.
Since 12, she has come a long way. Twelve years of homeschooling, four years of college, and two years of teaching music in a high school, have taught her a lot. As I look back, I can see the Lord's Hand in every step.
Advising her, seeking the Lord's Will, and praying for direction were hard! God's Hand didn't come down out of heaven and write a message on the wall for us to interpret like Daniel. He didn't speak to us in an audible voice, as He did to the Bible Patriarchs. And neither my husband nor I had any visions. Yet, in reminiscing, I can see that He was there all the time, leading and guiding behind the scenes, causing everything to fall in place for my daughter's good.
Oh, how wonderful and gracious the Lord is to bless a mother's daughter, and to answer a mother's prayers!
Kindred mother, homeschooling days may seem long and the struggles many. It may appear that you are not making progress, or that no foreseeable good is coming of your efforts. But believe, that if you are in the Lord's Will, and if homeschooling is what God has called you to do, God's purpose will be accomplished.
Your job is to stick with it and to give it your all. Your day-to-day faithfulness will be honored with a life-time of blessing. The daily, weekly, and monthly expenditure of time add up to years, and eventually a lifetime of investment in a child's future.
God will intertwine your child's interests, talents, and skills with opportunities, circumstances, and people that He brings your way. And this will all work together for your child's good.
God only requires that you remain faithful, are open to His leading, and are sensitive to His guidance. As He brings the puzzle pieces of your child's life together, He will produce a beautiful finished picture.
And homeschooling will afford you opportunity to be a part of it.
Prayer: Oh, Lord, what a beautiful picture You have painted of my daughter's life. Thank you for giving me the grace to remain steadfast, and for Your mercy in leading me into this educational choice called "homeschooling".
