Home School Enrichment Statement of Faith
Home School Enrichment, Inc. is non-denominational in nature, and we realize our readers will include people from many different denominational persuasions. Nevertheless, we also realize that some statement regarding our beliefs is necessary. We have included those beliefs which are the basis of our Christian faith, and/or integral to our daily lives. This Statement of Faith is not (and is not intended to be) an all-inclusive list of the beliefs of Home School Enrichment, Inc., which would indeed be a difficult or impossible list to compile.
We believe that the 66 books of the Bible are the infallible, inerrant, divinely inspired Word of God. The Bible is the final authority in every area of life, and is itself the guide to its own interpretation. The Bible is the ultimate standard in every matter on which it touches, including theology, personal behavior, history, science, etc.
We believe in a Triune Godhead - God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. All of mankind are sinners, inherently (through Adam) and individually (through personal choice), and thus subject to the judgment and condemnation of God. Freedom from the penalty and power of sin can be obtained only through the death, blood, burial and bodily Resurrection of Jesus Christ, who was born of the Virgin Mary and will return in person to this Earth as Judge of the living and the dead. Scripture contains all necessary information for salvation, leaving nothing to be added or taken away. Those who accept by faith the free gift of salvation will live eternally with God, while those who reject it will suffer eternal death and condemnation.
We believe that salvation cannot be earned by works or deeds. Nevertheless, good fruit should be apparent in the lives of all true believers, and there can be no excuse among Christians for licentious, idle, or other Biblically-unacceptable forms of behavior.
We believe in a literal translation of the book of Genesis, including a literal 6-day Creation, the Fall, and a literal, global flood.
We believe in the permanence of marriage, while acknowledging that, in this fallen world, divorce is an unfortunate and tragic reality.
We believe in the sanctity of life, and hold abortion in any and every form to be a grievous abomination.
We believe the Bible teaches separate and distinct roles for every member of the family, and that homes in which these roles are maintained are inherently stronger, happier, and in every way better than those in which roles are changed or reversed. We believe that these Biblical roles are the loftiest to which each can aspire, and in which they can obtain the greatest satisfaction in life.
We believe that education is primarily the duty of parents, who may choose to delegate a minority portion of their authority to the church or other Biblically ordained authorities. We believe that both fathers and mothers should be actively involved in the home education of their children.
